Brand identity and why every growing business needs one!

One of the errors made by small businesses when they begin to build their business is they don’t invest enough attention to creating a brand identity.

Often what happens is the person picks a name for the business, a logo and maybe a key message. But there is so much more that goes into building a brand identity and it’s a step you can’t afford to miss.

First let’s talk about what a brand identity even is. If your just starting out on your business journey you might not have heard this phrase before, or even if you’ve been growing your business for a while it might not be a term you’ve heard so let me explain.

A brand identity is like giving the business its own personality. It’s not just a logo, it’s a fully encompassing vibe that flows through all aspects of the business, from logo to how you talk to your audience. It involves combining brand message with visual direction and it gives the business a consistent look and feel.

So, why is it important to have a brand identity?

1) It looks way more professional. If your running a business, professionalism is top priority. It’s not to say you can’t have casual branding and interaction with your clients/customers, a good brand creator can create something casual yet professional and that’s going to make a massive difference to your business.

2) It’s going to attract more people. Things that look nice just attract more people, it’s just how it is. We’re humans, we like nice things. So the visual appearance of your business is so important. Strong, carefully thought out branding is going to show your business off in the best light.

3) People will remember it. Consistency is key with branding. When people make the mistake of not creating a full brand identity, their businesses appearance is left looking inconsistent and out of place, due to lack of visual direction and key message. This will impact how memorable you are. With a consistent, eye catching brand theme people will recognise and remember you.

4) You will feel more confident. We all want to be proud of the things we create and having a poor visual identity for your business can leave you feeling unconfident about what your offering, especially when your not attracting the right clientele or people are turning away from your services or products.

5) Theres room to grow. Start as you mean to go on. By creating a strong brand identity at the beginning of your journey means you can grow the business with a consistent vision and image. People will buy into the brand at the beginning and carry on the journey with you.

6) Lastly, by having the right brand identity for your vision and brand ethos you will attract, not only more people, but the right people! When creating a brand identity it is important to create with your ideal client in mind, this way all content is design to specifically attract those people.

There’s two ways to create a brand identity, do it yourself or hire someone to help you create the right look to attract your ideal clients and customers. If you need a little helping hand on the visual front, take a look at my work and contact me for a chat about how I can help you.
